My game in GameMaker studio 2

In the last week of our course, we focused more on our GameMaker studio 2 games, everyone did the basic of an arena shooter game with the teachers. And then everyone was free to customize their own games.

I did a game where you were at the beach with some Skol (beer brand very popular in Brazil) tables, chairs and umbrellas, and some Kibon ice cream cars(ice cream brand). You need to shoot some bad guys with black plague suits, if you get to one hundred points, you win the game.

It was very cool to make my own game the way I wanted, I tried to make as good as my knowledge provides me, I tried to feature some Brazilians brand (as I mentioned earlier) to make people that play my game fell more welcomed and identify better with it.

After all this course was really cool and taught me a lot of things, Im very happy with the result.

Sound design for my game

We went to the recording studio inside ESPM, it was a very cool experience because it was my first time inside a recording studio.

We recorded many types of things, including everyone singing All Stars together. The teachers recorded some sound effects for us to put in our games for example laser sound effects.

After that we came back to our classroom and everyone started doing some soundtracks to their own games. I did two types of soundtracks, a happy one, and a sad one, neither of them were good, but at least I tried.

Zelda Board Game

Me and other two friends made a Zelda board game.

It was like an RPG board game but with Zelda items, biomes and monsters, including Zelda’s games main villain, Ganon.

There were four types of biomes, the Hyrule kingdom, the fire lands, the ice lands and the desert. In each biome there were different types of items and different types of monsters. And certain items were good against certain types of monsters. For example a fire sword was better at fighting ice monsters than a normal sword.

There was also a store system, were you could buy items like swords, axes, shields and other things.

Our game had a lot of references to other Zelda games, including the Hyrule sword, Hyrule shield, Guardians, and mentioned earlier, Ganon.

It was a very good experience for us to start understanding more about game design.

Playing Lasers and Feelings

Today we played an RPG game called Lasers and Feelings.

In the game, my name was killer droid, as described in my name I was a soldier, pilot and a droid, I was really good at laser types of moves, but not good at all at feelings types of moves.

For being a droid I had quite some advantages, for example every time I died someone just needed to upload my memory and put it in another device or another droid. So I died four times during the history for many reasons, for example Kamikaze and self-sacrifice, and in the end of the game i was still alive after all those things happened.

It was a very cool experience for us to understand more about making a history and it consequences.

Finishing the Bird Blocky Games

I finished the Bird Blocky Games.

I feel they were more difficult than the maze ones, because they had X and Y and they had the symbols greater than or smaller than (> and <).

I had big doubts in the beginning but, as long as I was solving them, they were becoming easier, now I understand them pretty well.

Finishing the Maze Blocky Games

I finished all ten of the Maze Blocky Games. The first eight ones were pretty easy, but the last two ones, were really difficult to crack.

Each one had something new that we needed to discover to finish the level, and each one had different types of strategics that we need to do.
